When I started back in 1993 my first purchase was the 2nd edition Warhammer 40,000 box set (the one with the 20 Space Marines, 20 Orks, 40 Gretchin and a cardboard dreadnought in it ... not bad value not I come to think about it). I remember swapping the Orks for more Space Marines and so I bought the Space Marine codex (at the time called the Ultramarine Codex) and painted them up as Ultramarines. The Ultramarines were the first army I ever painted and collected.
Roll onto the year 2001 and I've been wargaming for 8 years. Time (and my lack of painting experience) had taken there toil on this much loved army; therefore I decided to re-do the army with brand new figures. I also based the army around a Games Workshop PC game that was out in 1999, Chaos Gate. The units are exactly the same as in the game and they all have names from the game itself... sad I know!
Anyway enough of me ranting on, you want to see the pictures; well wait no more. Click on the photo below to see a slide show of pictures!
The army consists of:
1x Captain
1x Standard Bearer
1x Chaplain
4x Librarians
2x Apothecaries
2x Techmarines
1x Terminator squad of 5 terminators with a heavy flamer (or Assault cannon if needed)
1x Venerable dreadnought with assault cannon and powerfist (although the weapons can be changed to a twin-linked lascannon and a missile launcher)
1x Tactical squad of 5 space marines

1x Tactical squad of 5 space marines with a flamer and sergeant (with chainsword and bolt pistol) transported in a Rhino
1x Assault squad of 5 assault marines with a plasma pistol and a sergeant (with a chainsword and plasma pistol)
1x landspeeder with a heavy bolter (In Chaos Gate the landspeeder had a heavy flamer and multi-melta; sadly this is no longer an option in the new Space Marine army book)
1x Devastator squad consisting of 5 space marines with 4 missile launchers (with the possibility of exchanging one for a plasma cannon)
1x Predator destructor with an autocannon and heavy bolter sponsons (made a slight error here; the Predator in Chaos Gate doesn't have sponsons ... doh!)

All-in-all, well over 1,500 points!
